The American Legion Auxiliary

Since its founding in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary has embodied the spirit of patriotism, service, and volunteerism that has strengthened America through times of war and peace. As a vital member of the American Legion Family, the Auxiliary proudly supports veterans, military members, their families, and the communities they call home.

Originally organized to assist The American Legion, the Auxiliary has grown into one of the nation's largest patriotic service organizations. With nearly one million members in more than 8,000 Units across the United States and overseas, the organization continues to make a lasting impact through advocacy, volunteer service, youth programs, scholarships, and support for veterans and military families.

Each year, American Legion Auxiliary members contribute countless volunteer hours and raise millions of dollars to support programs that promote patriotism, educate our youth, honor military service, and improve the lives of veterans and their families. Working alongside The American Legion, Sons of The American Legion, and American Legion Riders, Auxiliary members remain dedicated to the shared mission of strengthening America.

At American Legion Auxiliary Unit 221, this proud tradition of service has continued for more than 90 years. Our members devote thousands of volunteer hours to serving veterans, supporting military families, mentoring youth, promoting patriotism and responsible citizenship, and improving the quality of life throughout the Tehachapi community.

Guided by the American Legion Auxiliary's founding principles of "For God and Country," Unit 221 proudly advocates for veterans, educates our citizens, mentors our youth, and promotes patriotism, good citizenship, peace, and security. Through compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment, our members continue to strengthen both our community and the American Legion Family.
