The American Legion Auxiliary embodies the spirit of America that has prevailed through war and peace. Along with The American Legion, it solidly stands behind America and her ideals.
The American Legion Auxiliary was founded in 1919. Originally, it was organized to assist The American Legion. Over the years, it came to take on its own identity as the world's largest women's patriotic organization. Today, the Auxiliary has almost a million members in over 10,000 Units in the USA and other countries. Annually it raises millions of dollars to support its own programs and other worthwhile charities familiar to Americans. Through hundreds of Auxiliary volunteer programs and in working side-by-side with members of the American Legion, Auxiliary members give thousands of hours each year to communities and veterans.
